Angry Bird that S#&!

ANGRY Site NINJA

There isn't a single person on this planet who hasn't heard of the app sensations Angry Birds or Fruit Ninja.  If you haven't then you are missing out!  Angry Birds and Fruit Ninja are apps that are fun and addicting games that you can get on your mobile device.  In Angry Birds your objective is to "eliminate" the pigs while racking up a high score on the level (while flinging your birds at the targets) whereas your objective in Fruit Ninja is to use your touch screen to swipe and destroy the fruit that flies at you on your screen.  These are a few of the addicting games on a mobile device and Nokia noticed this.

To promote their New Nokia N8 mobile phone in Argentina, they are incorporating these games into their ads.  They are giving you a way to "add" these games to your favourites bar and to be able play the game on any website you are on.

The way it works

If you put the site onto your favourites bar you can than play a game on any site in the web.  Say you are sitting on Facebook and talking to friends and they tell you that they will BRB.  Well if you are looking for something to do you can click on that link and a Nokia phone will appear on the bottom of your screen with the Angry Birds or Fruit Ninja game (whatever your preference) and you can start playing right than and there.

Interacting with the Site

The first thing you will notice after you shoot your first thing; IT STARTS TO DESTROY THE SITE!!!  "This is awesome" i thought to myself while shooting off more birds and seeing what else I couldn't destroy on the site.  As you knock stuff down you get a score (showing in a side bar where you can compare your score and post on Facebook and Twitter.

The Only downside I can see is that a person playing this game may lose touch with the phone itself (the game becomes the main focus).  That isn't to say that it won't increase sales or that they will not remember brand because you will always see the brand in your favourites bar.

In the end I think this is an amazing way to engulf the user in the brand without being intrusive because they are in full control.  What also makes this special is that they will be telling their friends and others about the game which will create enormous buzz which should increase the sales.  So I feel this is one of the most creative ways that I have seen of late to integrate an Ad into a consumers personal time without them feeling like you are shoving your message down their throats.  Cheers!
